Asian HDPE Weekly Commentary : Stable despite lack of market direction / Recycle HDPE Flat amid stable virgin market / Players eye additional stimulus in China

Nov 04, 2024

The Asian market for recycled high density polyethylene was stable on Oct. 30, despite the lack of new market direction. The recycled low density polyethylene film was stable at $750/mt FOM Southeast Asia, while the recycled HDPE blowmolding black pellets were also unchanged on October 30 at $570/mt FOM SE Asia. Asian recycled HDPE has also been assessed as stable from a week ago. This week no new market direction was reported. The virgin HDPE price remained stable at $915/mt CFR Far East Asia. The outlook for demand for recycled HDPE is sluggish, in line with the slow recovery of China's economy. According to sources, market participants also closely monitor China's fiscal policies as the government could announce an additional stimulus package in early November.
