Asian HDPE Recycled: Prices remain stable despite muted trading / Scrap supply is tight / Prices are expected to rise after Golden Week holidays - Oct 14, 2024

The price of Asian recycled high-density polyethylene remained unchanged in the week ending Oct. 9, despite a lackluster trading environment. The price of recycled high density polyethylene film was $730/mt for the week FOB Southeast Asia, while that of recycled HDPE blow molding pellets remained at $570/mt. Sources are confident that the prices of recycled PE will increase over the next few weeks, following the end the Chinese Golden Week holiday. This is in line with the price changes on virgin markets. A trader said, "I am excited. There are signs that the prices will improve." The US scrap market is still tight because of the limited export quantities. The increase in recycling facilities in the US is to blame.
