Asian Hdpe: Trends Higher on Rising Demand, Domestic Prices / Slight improvement in Southeast Asia / China's Zhejiang Petrochemical HDPE Line to be Shut for 10days

Imports are more attractive to buyers due to rising domestic prices. Chinese HDPE was up Yuan 25/mt from last week to Yuan 8,300/mt, ex-works East China on April 24. This is equivalent to $979/mt based on import parity. The CFR ChinaHDPE grade was up $5/mt on a week-on-week basis at $950/mt, according to sources. This increase is attributed to plant maintenance in China, rising oil prices, and volatile domesticfutures. Sources said that the sentiment in the CFR-traded markets has improved and that they expect a price increase this week. CFR Southeast Asia was stable at $1,000/mt on April 24. Supply is expected to tighten because of rising costs for upstreamoil, feedstock and several ongoing and upcoming plantmaintenances in Asia, sources stated.
