Asia HDPE: Stable despite thin trade amid regional holidays / ICE Brent drops 15 cents/b in a single day / Low demand dampens discussion - Sep 23, 2024

In the week ending September 18, the Asian high density polyethylene markets were stable due to thin trading. The week saw a slowdown in trading, as key participants from China and Taiwan had just returned from their mid-autumn holidays. Participants in South Korea will be on holidays from 16-18 September due to the Chuseok Festival. Market sources reported that there were few offers because of low running rates and weaker demand. The ICE Brent crude oil futures for November fell 15 cents/b compared to the previous close, but gained $2.43/b over the past week. They closed at $72.92/b in the Asian closing on Sept. 18.
