Sources said that the Asian acrylonitrile price increased slightly in the week ending April 30, amid a continued shortage of supply. In the week ending April 30, domestic acrylonitrile was priced at Yuan 11,001/mt, up Yuan 200/mt from the previous week. This is equivalent to $1,286/mt based on import parity. Sources said that supply constraints caused by multiple regional turnarounds kept the Asian ACN markets supported. However, the continued price strength puts a strain on margins of downstream acrylic fiber and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene sectors, which have been seeing poor end demand, they added.
