In Asia, the glycols market declined slightly during the week ending March 14, mainly due to the persistent weakness in downstream. The demand in the downstream polyester sector remained weak, and several sources noted a lack "peak season" buying activities. Buyers are uncertain due to the recent volatility of the crude oil market and the impact from US tariffs. A trader in China said that the polyester market is not likely to support MEG demand. The operating rates of polyester plants in China increased week-over-week, and were estimated to be around 91.5% on March 14.
