Asian Glycols: Golden Week holidays cap trade / Rise in crude oil prices and announcements of stimulus packages boost pre-holiday trade / Post-holiday outlook bullish for polyester improvements

The Golden Week holiday in China caused a drop in trade in Asia's glycol markets during the week ending October 4. On Sept. 30, which was the last trading day before China's Golden Week holiday, activity on the Asian glycols markets was very high. On the Chinese import markets, a deal was made at $560/mt CIF China. The announcement of stimulus packages boosted the mood, and rising crude oil prices and futures also helped MEG trade. Some participants were bullish on the post-holiday trade because polyester operating rates had improved slowly but steadily before the holidays.
