Sources said that the Asian glycol market remained active in the week ended Nov. 1. Lower port inventories, and high polyester operating rate supported demand. Sources said that operating rates in polyester plants in China reached 92.5% during the week. Inventory levels were "reasonable" at around 20 days. Sources said that demand for polyester remained stable and some purchases were seen on the domestic market. However, some sources stated that purchasing was shifting to a more as-needed basis. This could mean the peak period is about to end. The polyester lull usually begins around the end of November. Therefore, operating rates would not be increased much more than this.
