US spot export caustic soda prices were
unchanged for the week, at $485 to $495/dmt. FOB USG. This was due to stable
pricing indicators amid low market activity. Market sources report that
export caustic soda has fallen by nearly 39% in the past year due to a sluggish
market. Market sources claim that the
global demand in 2023 has not increased as much as anticipated due to economic
uncertainty. This has led to a reduction in end-user demand. US caustic-soda capacity has decreased by 9% between March
2021 and now, amid multiple permanent closures. Most of these were caused by
Olin while some were by Oxy Vinyls. Prices
for caustic soda in Asia were flat...
