Gasoline cracks are widening / FOB China stable

MTBE in Asia is up $10/mt since May 17, to $897/mt, FOB Singapore on May 20. This was due to higher crude oil prices and wider gasoline margins. During Asian trade at 0830 GMT, July ICE Brent crude futures increased by 63 cents, to $84.16/barrel. Meanwhile, gasoline prices rose, resulting in a 4.97% increase of the spread between 92 RON - FOB Singapore gasoline, and crude oil futures, at $9.30/b. The MTBE markets were thin. No firm discussions were heard either for the FOB China or FOB Singapore markets. According to market sources, the arbitrage between China & Singapore is still closed and only a few cargoes have been recently sold from China to South Korea.
