Asia ethylene prices remained unchanged on
June 16, despite a thin market, with buyers in a wait-and watch mode for spot
discussions. Steam
crackers, including those in South Korea, are scheduled to restart following
turnaround. Hyundai Lotte, a South Korean
company, plans to restart the 658,000 mt/year Daesan steam cracker around late
June to early July. Hanwha Total plans to
restart their 1.62 million mt/year Steam Cracker in Daesan this week, after
turnaround. Asia demand is expected to
remain soft until China returns to normal consumption and production levels,
traders say. Gas freight rates were
assessed last on 10th June. The last gas freight rate assessment was $390/mt
for gas from the US to Northeast...
