- Futures declines add to the bearish sentiment- Movement restricted by
restocking at polyester plants in China

The Asian MEG market was quiet on July 3.
There were few changes in CFR China as the weak downstream demand continued to
limit the buying sentiment. Asia MEG CFR China was stable at
$450/mt on July 3. This reflects the tradable value from a trader. The weak
trading on the Chinese domestic market and the fall on the afternoon futures
market weighed on the sentiment. Several participants chose to remain on the
sidelines. The morning's trade was at Yuan 3,880-3,885/mt,
but dropped to Yuan 3,5870-3,875/mt by the afternoon. Overall,
however, movements were very limited. Restocking on the Chinese polyester
market was a slight factor in supporting overall movement, despite concerns
about tepid demand for finished goods.
