The second trading session of the week,
June 20, saw Asia benzene prices rise as a firmer crude market supported the
market. ICE Brent crude futures closed at
$76.61/barrel, the highest price in eight trading sessions. Market
participants pointed out that the trade economics were not favorable between
South Korea, China and other countries, since prices ex-China are higher.
Arbitrage could also be reversed. FOB Korea benzene physical marker
climbed $12.33/mt at $789/mt June 20. East China's
domestic benzene ex-tank market supply rose to Yuan 6,255/mt in H2 July laycan.
However, on an import parity and excluding import taxes, it was $773.14/mt,
which is a yard off from FOB Korea marker. The fall in
