Firmer DOTP and DOP pricing / PA producer seeks deepsea trades amid lackluster Asia demand

Prices of Asian oxoalcohols were higher for the week ending Nov. 7. Higher prices were seen for butanol normal, isobutanol and 2-ethylhexanol. The phthalic anhydride price fell due to a lackluster demand. A producer noted that the demand for 2-EH is robust as China's downstream plasticizer continues to be stable. He also pointed out a low level of inventory due to strong purchasing sentiment. Sources said that producers raised their prices due to a tight supply in China. Production plants were reducing operating rates because of quality concerns, which was causing the shortage. Last heard on November 7, the domestic 2-EH price in Shandong, east China was Yuan 9,300/mt. This is higher than last week.
