The 6th of June saw a weakening in the buying sentiment on Asian ethylene market due to ample supply and low margins downstream. Most of the buying indications heard on June 6 were at fixed prices of $820-830/mt CFR Northeast Asia, or at a parity with premiums of $5/mt CFR Northeast Asia. Some selling indications were heard at a premium of $5-$10/mt CFR Northeast Asia. This is a slight decrease from the previous day’s premium of $10-$15/mt. Sources in Northeast Asia say that an increase in container rates will likely impact downstream demand for polyvinyl chloride.
