European naphtha price backwardation
continued to fall April 27 on the back of pessimistic sentiment toward end-user demand. The price structure was softer on the day throughout all
spreads, with the front month versus Month 1 suffering the
heavier losses as it reached its lowest value since December. The May versus June spread
down $1.50/mt on the day at $1/mt, the lowest value since Dec. 23. General
sentiment on the European naphtha market continued to be dragged down by a
pessimistic view on the US and EU economies, with the imminent possibility of
recession, combined with frustrated expectations over China's economic
recovery, according to sources. The front-month CIF NWE naphtha swap was down
$20/mt on the day at $629.75/mt, with June/July 25...
