European Xylenes: MX premiums continue drop amid lackluster demand / MX reports poor demand for blending / The OX spot market is largely inactive

In the week ending August 30, premiums on the European spot market for mixed xylenes dropped further due to a weakened demand. Participants on the market said that MX buying interest weakened as gasoline blenders were reluctant to buy additional volumes of octane component for blending due to a weaker than expected gasoline blending. A producer stated that there was no way to delay the gasoline blending period. The driving season has ended and this year's weather conditions were not very good. A distributor said that some players were trying to force material onto the market but there was no demand. In spite of the low demand, one trade was reported in the week ending August 30.
