European PVC and Turkish Spot Prices: July starts on a stable basis / Producers and suppliers eager to raise prices to restore margins / Demand is still subdued through September

According to sources on the market, European PVC producers were eager to raise prices in order to restore their margins. However, demand in the market was still weak due to a slump in building. FOB NWE PVC Spot Price at $775/mt, CFR Turkey Spot Price at $815/mt on July 3 were both stable for the week due to the soft demand being offset by low operating costs. In a climate of high interest rates, it was difficult for producers to recover margins that were hit by low demand and volatile energy prices. PVC is sensitive to changes in interest rates, and since it's mainly used for construction, PVC producers are struggling to raise prices. Others said that they would raise their prices because it was "mandatory" to begin margin recovery....
