European PVC and Turkish PVC: Producers aim for September CP increases between Eur30-90/mt / Producers look for further margin expansion when buyers return / Ethylene Monomer Settles Down to Eur20/mt

Sources reported that European PVC contract and spot prices increased despite a 20 Euro/mt reduction in the cost of ethylene monomers. Since the beginning of the second quarter, and after antidumping duties on US and Egyptian imports were announced in July, producers have been striving to achieve a settlement that is above the monomer costs. Producers have announced contract price increases between Eur30 and 90/mt for September, with one producer confident of achieving the lower end of this range. The producer stated that "our target is to continue improving PVC margins." There are maintenances in Europe and [force majeure] that will balance the market in coming weeks.
