European Propylene trade activity increases ahead of turnarounds / Limited coastal trading activity / Slight rise in demand for derivative polypropylene

During the week ending July 26, the European propylene spot market was active, as restocking activities continued ahead of the start of the August turnaround season. Over the last week, spot activity was noted on the polymer and chemical grade free-delivered propylene markets. Market sources noted some restrictions on the pipeline as well as an increase in buyer interest due to restocking. The European chemical grade propylene price was Eur895/mt NWE July 26 down Eur3.50/mt from the previous week. Market sources reported that the coastal market was experiencing limited trading, despite sellers' offers. A trader stated that there was not enough interest in bringing material to Europe, or exporting it. He also added that the coastal markets were less active than those on the inland.
