Producers of polystyrene in Europe announced reductions for July contract and pricing. They will move to feedstock decreases on July 3. Trinseo, a European chemical and plastics manufacturer, has announced a price cut of Eur120/mt (US$129/mt) for all grades of polystyrene - general purpose and high impact. The price drop was due to the July styrene contract, which settled at Eur1,542/mt FBO ARA (down Eur138 for the month). The converter stated that they were seeing the polymer after the monomer as the demand was still weak. Last assessed GPPS contract price at Eur1,790/mt FD NE and HIPS at EUR1,890/mt FD NE on June 26. A producer offered a contract indication for July at Eu1,690/mt Europe. The expandable grades market also showed a similar lack of demand. This [decrease] was unavoidable...
