European Polystyrene : Spot prices fall on plentiful
supply and soft demand- Total Energies declares force majeure on PS- April Market Firming on Upstream, Construction RecoverySpot European polystyrene prices fell in
the week ending March 22, as domestic producers offered lower prices due to
ample inventory, continuing soft demand and low levels of supply. The general purpose
polystyrene spot prices were Eur1,650/mt FDN WE, with imports from smaller
producers and volumes heard at lower levels. Distributors reported final sales prices in the range of
Eur1,700-1 800/mt. After TotalEnergies
declared force majeure in Europe on polystyrene supplies, some disruption was
expected to occur March 22. France's
"social movements" were the reason for the force majeure. Strike
action and unrest have been ongoing since controversial changes to President
