In Europe, the polystyrene industry saw a lull in trading during the week ended July 31 due to the summer holidays. A converter reported that demand for PS is low despite the abundance of supply. The converter stated that PS producers are working very hard to control production in order to avoid stock builds. The low trading activity was attributed by an EPS converter to the fact that many market participants were on holidays. The demand for insulation EPS in the construction sector remained low despite a reduction of interest rates by the European Central Bank on June 12.
