The European polystyrene market remained quiet in the weekended June 19, with contract negotiations ongoing.The market has seen subdued demand in the past fewweeks due to the negotiations that were being carried out.At the start of the month, PS producers had announced theirtargeted decreases of Eur5-10/mt, which followed the styrenemonomer industry contract price settling for the month of Juneat Eur1,680/mt, down Eur30/mt.Due to low demand and ample availability, converters werenegotiating a decrease in line with the monomer price.A producer mentioned that they have negotiated mostcontract price decreases in the range of Eur20/mt to a fullmonomer decrease of Eur30/mt, although other settlementconfirmations from the market were still pending.Demand for packaging remained unchanged, while theconstruction sector stayed muted.
