European Polycarbonate:Prices remain stable on flat demand / Limited to no change heard in fundamentals / Neste, Borealis and Covestro join forces to convert tires into polycarbonate

Spot European Polycarbonate Prices remained stable during the week leading up to June 12 due to a stable purchasing appetite and continued import volumes to Europe. The DDP NWE extrusiongrade polycarbonate at Eur2,150/mt on June 12 was unchanged from the previous day, and the week before, due to feedback about stablemarket conditions. Neste will convert pyrolysis oils from used tires (such as liquefieddiscarded tires) into feedstocks for polymers and chemical production and supply them to Borealis. Borealis will then process these base chemicals phenolandacetone to supply to Covestro. Covestro will then use this to make polycarbonate. Neste's statement said that tires, when no longer suitable for use, are liquefied using chemical recycling.
