The European low density polyethylene spot market saw slow trading activity in the week ended on Aug. 28, as market participants returned from holidays. Most market sources continued to report limited trading activity, with many focusing on September as they await the settlement of the feedstock ethylene contract price. Domestic supply remained tight over the past week, amid continued low production rates in Europe. Most market sources agreed that availability was constrained. "We put an order stop on all PE [grades], due to tightness, not able to meet demand," a producer said. In the spot market, prices remained firm due to persistently tight domestic supply.
