European HDPE: Market holds steady amid summer holidays / Demand Stability Continues / Market activity is expected to increase in September

In the European market for recycled high density polyethylene, spot prices were stable in the week ended August 14, supported by constant fundamentals despite the summer holidays. Polymerscan, August 14, 2024 Multiple sources indicate that August is quiet for the market with many participants taking leave. A week without any trading was expected to be a sign of increased market activity in September and subsequent months. This increase, however, is not expected be very significant. Bale prices upstream remained steady. Postconsumer HDPE mix bales were priced at Eur320/mt in Northwest Europe. Prices were stable on both a daily and weekly basis. The virgin European HDPE markets also experienced a subdued week, despite tighter conditions due to import restrictions and domestic outages.
