European Glycols: Spot MEG prices rise amid tighter Sep supply / Perception of delayed import ships in Sep brings buyers in / Sep monomer costs expected to fall amid drop in energy

European MEG supply for September was observed tighter amid an expectation of import ship delays from the US. Sources pointed to the rising cost of upstream feedstocks in the US which limited offtake and was seemingly affecting the export of a ship for September deliveries. "We are seeing some tightness in the market for September at least. There is lower output due to high feedstock cost in the US, meaning less spot volumes for sale, confirmed vessel delays for September arrival now turning to early October," a distributor said. Another trader confirmed the tighter sentiment, which was still dominated by the weak summer demand, as buyers are preparing to return to the market to replenish low stocks.
