The European spot market for butadiene remained stable during the week ending August 9, and domestic availability is expected to improve after Shell restarts its steam cracker in Moerdijk (Netherlands). The market is tight and this has led to an increase in demand and pricing for spot material. In the past week, domestic buyers were seen on the spot market looking for cargoes to be shipped in August and September. The move was made amid a rising level of supply uncertainty in Europe ahead of maintenance, which begins after the summer holidays.
