European Acrylonitrile: Spot prices drop amid seasonal downturn / Sellers continue to emphasize contractual provisions / Petkim will conduct maintenance on the Aliaga line

In the week leading up to the 30th of July, the European acrylonitrile markets were quiet as the seasonal slowdown weighed more heavily on the market. The European summer holidays accelerated throughout the week and slowed sector liquidity, as participants across the value-chain ceased their operations in order to go on vacation. The spot market was particularly weak, as any demand from the derivatives markets had been satisfied by contractual commitments made earlier in the year. As a result, the seller's attention remained focused on these contractual markets. In the Northwest European market, spot prices dropped by $10, to $1,400/mt CIF-ARA.
