In the week ending September 9, European acrylonitrile market prices fell sharply due to a weak demand, a wide range of pricing indicators from the market and a large spread in price indications. The spot price for CIF ARA fell to $1,290/mt in the week ending September 9, a $50 drop. This was due to a lack of demand for the material by the majority of derivatives sectors. The lack of demand for spot products has pushed prices down, while contract commitments by market participants have satisfied any downstream appetite.
