Ethylene was at 20.87 cents/lb in Mont Belvieu on May 9 and 21.5 cents/lb in Choctaw, both of which were up by 0.625 cents/lb. Mont Belvieu's ethanol levels have now reached a new six-month peak since November 21, when they were 21 cents/lb. In a May 9 filing to the TCEQ, Cedar Bayou reported that they had increased their ethylene unit levels at their Cedar Bayou plant. The company had held an event to celebrate ethylene units earlier in the week at its Port Arthur plant on May 6. A market participant said, "I believe supply reduction could increase the spot price." Enterprise ethane was up 0.375 cent/gal for the day, at 19.25 cents/gal. Ethane feedstock is used to make ethylene.
