Asian Ethylene : Firms on naphtha recovery, rising LPG / LPG prices increasing makes propane less viable for feedstock / Selling indicators higher than last week

In the week ended July 21, Asian ethylene market prices rose and spot supply was tightened. In the past week, producers increased their selling indications, citing the rebound in naphtha, the key feedstock, and the rising value of LPG, which has reduced the incentive for steam cracker operators who use propane as a fuel. The rising feedstock costs have put us under pressure. "We increased our selling ideas in order to reflect the changes in costs, particularly since the margins for ethylene production are still so low," said a South Korean manufacturer.
