Price discussions waned amid abundant supply on the Asian ethylene market in the week ended Sept. 6. Market sources said that the increase in supply is largely due to increased South Korean naphtha crate operating rates. In September, the average run rate in South Korea was 84%. This is 2% more than it was in August. 4. On the FOB markets in Korea, there were deals for October-loading shipments at discounts between $40 and $43/mt compared to CFR Northeast Asia. The initial selling indications for CFR NE Asia were $37-$39/mt, while bids ranged from $45/mt or more.
