- Market quiet while some participants celebrate Chinese
Qingming Festival- Tender heard for Southeast Asia origin- ethylene

As the market is quiet, Asian ethylene
prices held steady at $940/mt CFR Northeast Asia and $960/mtCR SE Asia on April
5. As some
market participants celebrated the Chinese Qingming Festival, there were only
limited discussions. One tender was
received for ethylene originating in Southeast Asia. This indicated selling
sentiment in the region, despite some market volatility. The benchmark C+F Japan naphtha marker, which was
$689.125/mt, was down $0.75/mt in upstream markets at the Asian close on April
5. The spread for ethylene-naphtha was
$250.875/mt. This is higher than the spread of $250/mt that integrated
producers have, but lower than the spread of $300-$350/mt that non-integrated
producers have.
