Buying sentiment in the Asian ethylene market was bearish inthe week ended June 7, as weak downstream production marginscontinued to weigh on the price discussions."It is difficult for us to consider higher prices as downstreamprofitability remains weak. The ethylene market in Asia has been bearish for the week ended June 7, as the weakening downstream profitability continues to weigh on price discussions. The ethylene cargoes we cannot accept are those that have a premium of $10-$15/mt above CFR Northeast Asia. Crackers will only be able to manage this situation if they control and balance output with other downstream products like PE.
Asian Ethylene Daily Rationale
The CFR Southeast Asia assessment remained stable at $945/mt as few discussions continued. It was also down $5/mt for the week.
