Asian Ethylene: Stable with unchanged fundamentals / Falling naphtha pressures / Taiwan CPC restarts no. The 4 steam cracker

In the Asian ethylene market, there were limited transactions in the week ended Oct. 18. This was due to several participants being away in Xiamen for an industry conference. The week's buying and selling indicators were mostly unchanged due to stable fundamentals in demand and supply. Sources said that derivative demand was weak but the fall in naphtha feedstock prices had eased some of the pressure. Selling pressure is likely to persist as long as the spread between ethylene and naphthalene remains well below breakeven. Taiwan's CPC announced that it has restarted No. Linyuan's No. 4 naphtha cracker has been restarted. The cracker is capable of producing 720,000 mt/y of ethylene, 335,000mt/y of propylene and 102,000mt/y of butadiene. It plans to ramp up 100% within the next week. The C+F...
