In Asia, the ethylene market grew in the week ending June 28 due to tightening supply. The majority of South Korean producers were out-of-stock for July loading shipments, with only a limited amount left in the month. Sources said that the upcoming rate cuts at South Korean steam crackers using naphtha would likely keep supply levels unchanged in August. Current naphtha prices were high and crackers could not increase their operating rates due to persistent derivative weakness.
