Asian Ethylene: softens for the second consecutive week due to uncertainty / Buyers remain cautious due to lack of clarity in the near future / Limited Ship Space for April

In the week ending March 14, the Asian ethylene market continued to soften. This was the second week in a row that the markets have weakened. Buyers were cautious due to uncertainty surrounding downstream demand and upstream direction. Buying indications fell week over week from $830-$840/mt CIF Northeast Asia. Due to the uncertainty in the market, some buyers prefer to negotiate cargoes using a formula. Some buying indications were heard at premiums between $5 and $10/mt CFR NE Asia. In the past week, offers were made at $870-880/mt CFR North East Asia. Formula-based offers heard were at premiums between $10 and $15/mt CFR NE Asia.
