Asian Ethylene : Thin trade amid ongoing terms negotiations / Some demand for Jan spot cargoes / SE Asia quiet on stable fundamentals

In the week ending Dec. 6, there was little discussion of Asian ethylene spot market, with many buyers stating that they had enough ethylene for December. Although there was some interest in January spot cargoes from the Northeast Asian region, discussions on firm contracts were rare, with focus remaining on ongoing negotiations for term contracts for 2025. The buying indications were mostly unchanged from week to week. Several buyers cited squeezed margins in downstream production. Southeast Asian markets were relatively quiet. Participants noted that demand and supply fundamentals remained unchanged. The C+F Japan Naphtha Marker was down $1.50/mt on a day-to-day basis at $622.375/mt by the Asian close of Dec. 6.
