As the market is quiet, Asian Ethylene
prices remain steady at CFR NE Asia $960/mt CFR SE Asia 980/mt on March 13. After a FOB Korea tender last week, a deal was
confirmed. Selling sentiment was firm. Some buyers
are patient and wait, while others cite naphtha price fluctuations as a reason
for inactive market participation. "Despite my need for ethylene,
naphtha prices remain high and it is expensive to buy them at this time." "We will
see how it goes on April," a northeast Asian buyer said. The
benchmark C+F Japan Naphtha marker was up $5/mt to $685.5/mt as of the March 13
Asian close. The spread for ethylene-naphtha was $274.5-290.20/mt.
