Asian Ethylene: Quiet amid Lunar New Year holidays / The discussion is likely to pick-up late next week / Ethylene/naphtha Spread remains Below Healthy Levels

The Asian ethylene markets were quiet during the week of Jan. 31. There were no transactions heard due to the Lunar New Year holiday. Some sources predicted that discussions would pick up after the holiday season ends on February 4. The C+F Japan Naphtha Marker was down $4/mt per day to $664.50/mt by the Asian close on January 31. The ethylene-naphtha differential was calculated at $205.50/mt. This is below the usual spreads of $250/mt or $300-$350/mt.
