Asian Ethylene : Holidays and weak downstream / Nov FOB Korea trade increases / CPC closes No. Steam cracker No.

The Asian ethylene market was quiet during the week ending Oct. 4. This is due to key players in China being on holiday for Golden Week. FOB Korea saw a surge in activity, with deals being made for November-loadings at a discount of $45/mt compared to CFR Northeast Asia. Some buyers were heard with discounts between $49 and $51/ mt compared to CFR NE Asia. Due to the Chinese holidays, the CFR NE Asia market was thinly traded. Typhoon Krathon also disrupted the activity in Taiwan in the last week. Taiwan's CPC closed one of its steam crackers in Linyuan after a power outage caused by the typhoon.
