Asian Ethylene : Limited Changes as Fresh Discussions Yet to Begin / Stronger Chinese domestic market supports sentiment / JG Summit shuts cracker, BTX unit

As discussions about September cargoes were still in their early stages, the Asian ethylene market saw little change during the week ending on July 26. Sources on the market indicated that September cargoes could be priced between $850 and $860/mt CIF Northeast Asia. This was a price range that was largely unchanged compared to August, as it was expected there would be limited changes in supply and demand fundamentals. More indications, however, tended to be towards the upper end of the range. Some sources cited sustained support from Chinese domestic markets. Participants said that they expected a clearer direction the following week as most of them would begin negotiations for September cargoes.
