the price of ethylene on June 9. Market
sources reported that most crackers were operating at 80-90% capacity in
average. On June 9, a buyer's indication
was heard for $700/mt CFR Northeast Asia. The
majority of sellers prefer to discuss July spot cargoes in a floating manner.
Selling ideas were heard for Northeast Asia CFR Northeast Asia plus 20-$30/mt,
and Southeast Asia CFR Southeast Asia plus 5-10/mt. Derivative margins were weak across most major ethylene
downstream sectors. Due to the reduction
in operating rates, buyers said they were not in a hurry to buy. Market sources say that polyethylene, ethylene monomer and
styrene facilities have been running below capacity...
