Asian Ethyl Vinyl Acetate: Stable amid scant trading / Taiwan's Formosa EVA Plant resumes operation after a short maintenance / VAM CFR China at $790/mt for the week ending August 8

In Asia, the ethyl acetate market price remained stable during the week ended August 14 due to a lackluster demand. A trader from Northeast Asia stated that "only a few deals were made...price is the same as last week". A company source confirmed that Taiwan's Formosa Plastics, which produces 80,000 metric tons of ethyl Vinyl acetate per year, resumed its operations on August 11 following a few days maintenance. The issue was at a part of the plant. The company source confirmed that the site was now operating at full capacity. Formosa Plastics operates two EVA factories -- one in Taiwan, Mailiao (a 170,000-t/yr line), and another in China, Ningbo (a 100,000-t/yr plant).
