On May 29, the price of general purpose polystyrene CFR China was $1,315/mt, and that for high impact PS CFR China was $1,325/mt. Both prices were stable from week to week. Market sources reported that offers were mostly rangebound due to mixed fundamentals on the market. Upstream prices rose during the week while demand declined. The recent Chinese policy in the property sector is expected to have a positive effect. However, the impact on PS and acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene is still not clear. "Everyone is still more worried about oil prices and trends [in the upstream] styrene Monomer," said a producer. SM prices rose during the week due to a positive mood and tighter supplies.
