Due to firmer upstream market prices, Asian
benzene rose 2 mt per day to $958/mt FOB Korea on March 29. May ICE Brent crude oil
futures increased 42 cents to $78.95/b in Asian trade at 0830 GMT. In downstream markets, styrene monomer dipped $2/mt to
$1,084.50/mt CFR China. Japan's ENEOS
Corp. has set its April benzene Asian contract prices at $990/mt. This is up
40/mt over the March settlement, a source told S&P Global Commodity
Insights. The company sent an email to
S&P Global Commodity Insights, stating that "low margins of
crackers" and scheduled turnarounds will restrict benzene supply in the
next months. It added that exports of
benzene and aromatics to the US would tighten the Northeast Asia's benzene
balance due to increased gasoline...
