- May contract price settlement to begin- Styrene prices fall on low demand

The European benzene price continued to
rise on April 19. A backwardated market structure was in place. After several days of
silence, sellers were able to make offers on April 19, as the market sought
higher prices. The trading window for the
settlement of the industry contract price will begin at the end of this coming
week. This is expected to boost trade liquidity. The laycan for five to thirty days of forward delivery was
valued at $1,106.50/mt CIF-ARA, an increase of $5.50/mt from day to day. Prices of styrene in downstream markets fell as the demand
remained low. In the downstream
polystyrene market, traders reported that prices have weakened throughout April
as a result of weakening in major sectors.

Exclusive market movement data, shipping lineups, demand signals and pricing rationale continue in full report.
