- Prices fall 25 cents over past three trading days- Downstream styrene production
margins negative

US Gulf Coast benzene prices moved lower
for a third consecutive trading day on April 24, falling to a two-week low. May DDP benzene at 369 cents/gal, down 5
cents on the day and down 25 cents since April 19. May FOB fell 5 cents as well to 379 cents/gal. At the equivalent
of $1,134.35/mt, May FOB benzene continued to be priced above downstream
styrene, most recently talked at $1,050/mt, keeping styrene production margins
negative. Benzene prices have been pressured higher by
demand for downstream ethylbenzene into gasoline blending, a trend
sources have recently said was ongoing.
